23rd April is the final deadline for everything

Obviously it would be better to get things uploaded before then so I can have a look at it and advise you on any changes required, and you will have exam prep to do.

The evaluation questions

These need to be answered in different formats. You should be planning to answer these as you finish your products.

In the evaluation the following four questions must be addressed:

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Reminder of brief and auxiliary products.

Remember, you have no set homework for critical perspectives at the moment. We are studying this in class as prep for the mocks. After the mocks you will be completing your evaluation.

 You are expected to use your own time (approx 5 hours a week) to be completing your films and the auxiliary products. Don't forget, you need to do some generic research into the forms and conventions of the aux products you have chosen to do.
These must be completed before the mocks! I will be looking at your blogs.

1. A promotion package for a new film, to include a trailer, together with two of the following three options:

a website homepage for the film;
a film magazine front cover, featuring the film;
a poster for the film.

2. An extract from an original documentary TV programme, lasting approximately five minutes, together with two of the following three options:

a radio trailer for the documentary;
a double-page spread from a listings magazine focused on the documentary;
a newspaper advertisement for the documentary.

3. The first two pages of an original local newspaper  together with two of the following three options:

a billboard poster for the newspaper;
a radio advertisement for the newspaper;
two hyperlinked pages from the paper’s website.

4.A short film in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes, which may be live action or animated or a combination of both, together with two of the following three options:

a poster for the film;

Deadlines

Your films should be completed and uploaded to your blogs via you tube now.
On our return in January there will be no more lesson time on these. You will be preparing for your mock exams in February. Some of this exam will be analysing aspects of the film you have made (so, another reason to get it done).

You will be focusing on We Media with Miss Midwinter and Critical Perspectives with me.

After the mocks you will start work on the evaluation for the practical and this needs to be completed by February half term.

Clarification on music that can be used in documentary from OCR

For any option other than the music video candidates can only use 'found' material in a limited way. So if it is snippets that will only be used in a limited fashion in their piece then that is okay but if the found material is making up the majority of their soundtrack then that is really against the spirit of the specification.

The move away from 'found' material is to stop students just finding their favourite music track and putting over their video without any thought, editing or remixing to make it appropriate for their piece of work.

Kind Regards
